Improving User Understanding in SearchNEU

While contributing to SearchNEU, I focused on enhancing user experience by addressing common misconceptions about the platform's features. I developed an FAQ page to provide clear answers to frequently asked questions, designed tutorial models to guide users through key functionalities, and contributed to ideation sessions to refine the overall user experience.

Through UX design, I aimed to make the platform more intuitive and accessible, ensuring that users could navigate its features with ease. Check out SearchNEU here!

UX RESEARCH

Presently, I’m conducting user interviews for our FAQ page and running A/B testing sessions to determine which model is more effective for users. Additionally, I’m performing card sorting exercises to evaluate and refine the information architecture for better usability.

Although we had basic sketches for how we wanted the page to look, we also aimed to create an information architecture diagram to map out how elements and information were structured throughout the page for better organization and usability.

QUANT RESEARCH METHODS

As we collect data from user interactions on our website, the next step is applying quantitative analysis methods to gain deeper insights into user preferences. This will help us refine our design, improve usability, and tailor the final product to better meet user needs.

Tracking User Behavior

Using event tracking and heatmaps, we can analyze how users navigate the website, where they spend the most time, and which elements they interact with the most. Click-through rates (CTR), bounce rates, and session durations will provide insight into areas that need improvement.

Analyzing Search & Filter Effectiveness

We can track search queries, filter selections, and refinement patterns to understand how users search for content. By applying data clustering (e.g., k-means), we can identify common search behaviors and improve filter recommendations.
